Alright, got a fresh S5 motor with 20k, it's a reman and is complete, minus fan shroud and the clutch fan, which I don't care about. Shell is an 88 SE, and I expect to do an entire motor and drivetrain swap.

My only question is ecu, connecting everything up? Am I going to have some serious problems here? I know the ECU's are completely different between the series. But what about wiring harnesses? Will I only need the engine wiring harness and ECU from the S5. Or is there more that is needed?

Or would I just be better off going with a standalone ECU? I don't really want to if I don't need to. Or is this **** going to get really complex, to where it will need custom wiring done?

And if you have an answer for me, don't just say "It won't work". Explain to me why it won't work. I got **** answer on the other forum, and got pissed off. No help there.

By the way, parting out most of the interior, if you want something shoot me an email, best way to get in contact with me, as I get email alerts on my cell phone.

Thanks

Justin

I think people are just tired of answering the same questions. Thats why you get one line answers.

The S5 engine harness needs a S5 dash harness to work. Then S5 gauges too. And im sure some other junk also.

The best way to do that swap is just to change the block to S5 and keep the S4 manifolds.

Standalone is great, but is it really worth it for what you will ultimately gain?

we made an adaptor harness dealie in the race car. the s5 connectors are different, and they routed a bunch of the wires differently.

I'll let you know in a week or so. I'm doing the same in 88' vert. Got S5 JDM TII + ECU + wiring ready to put in. I belive the dash S4 harness needs to be modyfied to work with S5 ECU.
