so, I paid $1,700 for my base, and added gxl seats, hubs, breaks, and now I have bad bearings

then my boss decides to be a *****, and shows me an add for a gxl for $1,500, and says, "hey, it's already got the bigger rims and stuff, and I bet the bearings are good, too!"

now I fell like a dumbass, yay! So, did I get ripped off?

oh well, like my wife's grandfather (or someone else?) always said: "Something is worth whatever someone else is willing to pay for it." Or something like that.

Yeah, that's the whole idea behind collectibles and stuff like that.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Look up and down this forum, and others, e-bay and such. People are paying too much for stuff all the time. Apparently on another topic I did for my Catback. So what. It is what value you place on what you have purchased.

If you love the car and put your heart and soul into it and make it what you want it to be, so be it.

Good luck with your project and send some pics.

That is the subjective value theory from economic principles.

I paid 500 bucks for my '86 sport...already put another 200 in it and right now it's in a shop trying to become a normal car again.

Plus that other one in the classifieds was prolly not in that great of condition. Prolly Fizznucked. (.02)

1700 is not a bad price for a good car that runs and doesn't give you problems.

I paid $500 for my T2 almost a year ago, and now I am still waiting to get the bastard running.

all is said, I am sure I would have put up with bad bearings, bad seats, and bad what ever for a car that just ran like it should.
