A buddy of mine has crossthreaded his leading front rotor spark plug. What should we do? I debated on whether I should get a tap and try to rethread it, but I am worried as to whether it is not a waste of time (if it will even work). Has anyone ever been sucessful in repairing such a problem? Also there are bound to be aluminum shavings and I know if they get into the engine we are done for. Can I do the Tap and then crank the engine as it will blow the shavings out since it builds compression? HELP!

try using a tap to chase the threads, put lots of heavy grease on the tap so the metal chips will stick to the tap. the tap should be a 14MM X 1.25

Helicoil.

Problem is that you gotta get a drill to drill out the old threads. Tap that new hole you just drilled. Insert helicoil with locking compound.

How you get a drill in that spot is a problem.

How you prevent metal chips from falling into the combustion chamber is also another problem.
