Under what condition?

I have no clue, it happened to me a few times after the car sat for the winter, it can honestly happen out of no where, stop at a store, come out to start the car, and it wont start.

I bought 2 RX7s people thought had a blown engine from nostart, lol.

The gasoline reducing the compression in the motor is understandable, but I don't know why you guys are having random flood attacks. I've never had a problem. I installed a fuel pump override switch under my dash in my first car but I never had to use it.

Only times I've flooded out was when I was working on things or tuning and didn't set something up properly.

I never have it happen randomly. I've heard of it happening to people, but I've never had the pleasure.

Not random flood attacks, but once the car doesnt start and you KEEP trying to start it- it floods, these cars dont shut off fuel after a certain time of cranking like other cars.

most cars if the computer senses no start it shuts off fuel so you dont flood it, the FC will keep pumping fuel as long as you keep cranking the key.

you go to start the car and it cranks like it has no compression, if you dont disable the fuel pump THEN it floods.

dont put the plug back in until it fires up, there is plenty of fuel in there to get it going.

just for clarification for ricer240 when you say "fuel pump fuse" i'm wondering if you're saying the EGI fuse, or the fuel pump jumper under the dash. If the plug under dash then yeah it should start up with it still out, but the EGI fuse has to be put back in for spark.

its the egi and i waited for it to sputter as if it were going to start and then cranked it a couple more times and put it back in

but either way, none of this explains the scraping noise that i heard so im pullin it out anyways

a couple of times ive heard a scraping noise, but it sounds more like scraping on the flywheel. so far the car still runs like it always has.

When you crank with the egi fuse out, hold the throttle to the floor. You usually need to turn the motor at least 10 seconds. Do it a few times until you hear the motor pump like it used to before it flooded. Make sure the battery is charged before you try to start it with the fuse in.

If that didnt work, add some two cycle oil into the combustion chambers to bring up the compression a little for start up.

If that didnt work, have someone with a Mazda rotary compression tester check your engine.

well, i got it to turn over today!!!

i pulled the plugs so i can listen for compression! and it was there, i got all three "chuggs" from each rotor( i pulled the top one out of the back one, cranked, put it back in then pulled the top one out of the front rotor, cranked and put it back in) but i noticed was that the plugs were dripping wet!!!!

so i pulled all 4 blew them out and let them dry, put them back in and vuala! she started!!!! but the tach wasnt working, so after i let it run for a minute or 2 i shut it off and tryed starting it again, but no go!! so i pulled the EGI fuese again and cranked it a few times, then put it back in and cranked it, got a sputter but didnt start.

i pulled the plugs again and they were dripping, again. so im drying them out again but this time jsut the prmarys(the top ones with the blue boots are the primarys right?? lol) and i will be giving it another go shortly!!

id like to thank EVERYONE who posted up to help me!! saved me about a grand lol.

u guys are soo much cooler than those dead beats at RX7club.com, i didnt get one reply over there > lol

but now, i need to know if anyone can tell me y its running so rich on start up?? i have an safc (not in yet but will be as soon as i get this puppy fixed!), but that wont be able to correct on start up would it??

thanx again guys!!!
