Thumbs up

So the hose comming off the side of the engine block (near the leading rotor) ruptured in my car, thankfully a friend of mine came along with his handy tow strap and S-10 to tow me back to his place, schucks didn't have the replacement part on hand, so its on order from mazdatrix, I'm wondering if I can just cap off the nipple comming off the engine, and out of the firewall to have a driveable vehicle until the part comes in, or if this will hose (no pun intended) my cooling system?

Also, my gearshift makes a kind of rattling sound when accelerating hard, the noise fades when coasting/maintaining speed, if I rest my hand lightly on the gearshift the noise immediately goes away, any advice/clues as to what it is, and how to fix it?

Im pretty sure the hose is for the heater. As long as its capped good enough to hold the coolant pressure, the car should run fine, but you wont have a heater, like you need it in this heat

The rattling is probably the shifter bushings.
