What kind of brand belt are you using?

You should put some tension on the belt, not supper tight but you not be able to deflet more than an 3/4 inch with your thumb pressing on it with good pressure. On the longets part.



Try another brand belt. I have seen belts that just stretch and stretch

 

i'm not sure what brand... you'd think i'd know what it was because i've made about 5 trips to autozone to get belts.... but maybe i will try that next... does it matter if its got the ribbs or if its flat what ever? (the bottom side)

 

if you smell the belt you are over tightening,

if it keeps getting loose your doing something wrong like not making the bolts tight enough. If the pulley was shot you would eat the belt up, or it would keep working for a while, but it probably wouldnt loosen

 

go to advance auto/discount auto and use the Top Cog belts, a lil more expensive but less prone to stretchin and lasts longer use to work at advance auto

 

Yeah, great belts but not longer for sell here. Their regular counter parts do well too. They are made by dayco

even when i tighten the belts back down its still looks like the alt belt is jumpin up and down on the alt. pulley... i was thinking about just replacing all the pulley to brand new ones. and at that same time start off with all new belts, see if that helps a bit. and i've only really lost two belts i've stoped the eating up process but i've lost the a/c belt once and the air pump belt once and that was it but that was when i first got the car on the road maybe a few hundred miles into it.

 

remove ur airpump and gut the cats, get one of the purrty pulleys made to eliminate the airpump, you know you want to spit the flames and gain a couple HP to boot anyways

 

yes that does sound like a plan but i'm worried about emmsions

 

ahh see we dont have emissions in my town i guess i'm lucky
