I had an ACT HD pressure plate with a RB sprung 4 puck disc on some japanese chromoly 8 lb flywheel in my GTU(TII driveline), and I loved it. The clutch engaged very smoothly, and it was no problem driving in traffic at all, even with the 8 lb flywheel and a torqueless ported n/a engine.

The clutch took a little getting used to, as there isnt an engagement range like the stock clutch(and most organic clutches), there is an engagement point. Mazda clutches seem to have a broader engagement range that most on their stock clutch discs, and I had a hard time getting used to the puck clutch at first. But once I got used to it, I found it easier to transition to other cars.

The key to taking off smoothly with a puck clutch is letting the clutch out until it just starts to grab, then just holding the clutch there and feed in more gas. If you try to let out the clutch more as you feed in gas, it will chatter.

Here is what I like.

The pressure plate has the increased clamp pressure, but the spring leverage is increased so the pedal pressure feels lighter than stock.

Easy on your hydraulics & your foot.

Lots of BITE..

I'm running it on an ACT light steel (I think 13 lbs) flywheel.

right now i'm thinking of the SR motorsports ACT heavy duty PP with the street strip disc and the 9.5 lbs flywheel. 749 with counter weight and hardware and everything isn't a bad price. Hopefully free shipping over 300 bucks is applicable for canadian residents as well.

what is your view on Kevlar discs? Spec clutch Stage 2 offers a kevlar lined full face disc.

Two of my friends have spec stage 2 clutch (in a wrx and an mr2) and they both love them. I'm planning on getting one later.

the only option you have is at least 3 plate carbon/carbon 4.5 inch off an older f1 car or champ car. they are only about 4-5 grand from tilton. oh and they are so easy to drive nice and smooth *lurch*
