Clutch Question
I drive a purely stock 1986 N/A RX-7. When I push the clutch in, the car starts making a weird clicking noise. My father said something about the clutch release bearing having a problem. I was wondering what you guys thought. Of course, I'd also like to know the easiest way to remedy the problem. Thanks!
How long you been driving it? I've heard it can be pretty bad if you leave it alone too long, but again, I'm not sure. What should I do to fix it? Can I find individual bearings or would I need a whole new clutch?
Is there a slow grinding noise when the tranny is in neutral and the clutch is released, and as you push the clutch in it changes? Thats a sign of a throwout bearing going south. The clicking sound may be one of the shudder springs on the clutch itself rattling as well. How many miles on the clutch?
The clutch is fairly new, about 1200 miles on it. Also, the noise only starts after it's been driven a little. I dunno about the noise when it's in neutral and the clutch is released. I believe it only happens when the clutch is pushed in.
