Clacking soundsand rev hesitation... HELP.. NEWBIE
Hi guy's,
Newbie here.
Recently I am planning to purchase a 1991 fc rx7 imported from Japan.
Upon checking the unit, I started the engine, it started fine and idles perfect. After waiting for a couple of minutes for the engine to warm up i tried to reve the engine up to redline and it revved smoothly without hesitation but notices that the "aftermarket blow off valve was opening a little bit when the boost is coming up by the way the owner told me that he thinks their is soomething wrong with the BOV. The engine is sluggish to rev like the timing is off retarded.
During my test drive, i noticed that every time i floor it and the boost is starting, I hear clacking sounds like CLACK CLACK CLACK and the engine hesitates to rev to red line and it wont rev at all. Its like a fuel cut or like a off boost-boost type of thing.
Now, my suspicion is that the BOV is defective and creating the clacking noise due to it cannot hold the boost anymore creating an open close action during boost and for the reason its creating a haywire in the system that's why it cannot rev to red line like a fuel cut. But when i rev the engine without loads or in neutral again, the engine revs to red line though a little bit sluggish.
Actually guys, Im from the Philippines and I owned previously 2 rx7 already but unfortunately neither of them ran smoothly .
We don't have rotary competent mechanic here in south of the Philippines and I don't want to buy again an rx7 which i could not enjoy this time.
I currently own an Evo and a GT TURBO starlet running 11's on 1320 but my heart is always on ROTARY!!! I will never stop looking for a ride unless I will have sweet fc and an fd.. ROTARY to me is like a unicorn.
Please help me guy's out so I can decide if im going to buy my dream ride or settle again for something else until I will find my unicorn.
Thank you in advance and happy holiday's.
