Carbon Lock
#1
I have a 1988 TII. When I bought the car it had been sitting for about a year. It has 88,000 miles. The car ran fine with no smoke or flooding issues when parked.
This is my first rotary. Without researching the carbon lock issue, I turned the motor clockwise with a breaker bar. The motor did turn about 180 degrees before hanging up.
Now, I cant turn the engine either direction. When turning backwards, the bolt comes loose.
Here'w what I've done:
Sprayed carbon dissolving solvent into the combustion chamber via the spark plugs and intakes.
Tried towing the car forward (while in reverse). The wheels just lock.
Tried using a chain wrench on the eccentric shaft hub. (Broke the hub).
Any other ideas?
