my car shut off on the highway and wont start back up, but its turning over like it wants to start. It keeps flooding itself

we took it to a shop and they think its my apex seals

does that sound about right?

i dont want them to screw me over

Get a compression test to see if its the seals.

Compression is low relative to WHAT? Your main concern should be big variations from one chamber to another. If your car just quit on the highway and you weren't ******* the **** out of it at the time, I certainly would not be inclined to think it was the apex seals. I'd be looking for something fuel or ignition related. Some history would be nice. How many miles on the engine, how well had it been running prior to the breakdown, etc.

If compression is low, thats your problem. Where are you located? You could try another shop if you're doubting them, never a good frame of mind to be in when having work done on your car...

Shops always think its the apex seals. Thats all the info they gave is that comp is low? Front rotor, rear rotor, all rotor faces?

How does it run off idle? Does it rev up?

i just know the car gets started and won't hold an idle..needs to be given gas to kept going

prior to this problem the car was running absolutely fine

checked fuel pump and its fine

its getting fuel

we changed the spark plugs

shop is gonna run some more tests

i really dont think the car would run at all if it were apex seals

Yes it can, and hold idle too. It will just have what some people call the "Death Shake". Shakes the car at idle pretty good.

ok so we find a hose thingy going from the turbo to a air meter thing (forgot what it was called) and it has a crap at the air sensor. So it sounding like that was the problem and that air is escaping and that its getting to much fuel and not enough air.

does this sound about right?
