Buying a 1991 RX7, your thoughts?

Hi,



Found a 1991 N/A RX7 for sale loacally. Body is in very good shape, no real rust (orig from VA) and decently clean. Runs very well, no real issues. 190K, but purrs like a kitten, rear exhaust might need work, paint faded a bit. I'm looking to see if you feel its worth $1295.00 and if you think it would be a good candidate for Track days, HPDE's etc...



Please give all opinions and let me know what to look out for when testing this car out. I've been a Z car driver for years, but always admired the Mazda's. Buddy of mine is a Spec Miata racer and swears by the brand name.

Make sure to do a pressure test on the car before you get it. Also with 190k might also want to integrate into the price a possible rebuild. Especially since your going to track it. It might need it in the future.

depending on the power range your used to running a course...

hard to make a suggestion as to whether or not the 91 na fc would be suitable...

thanks for the reply. I'll have to drive it an see. I'll know after the first few miles if its suitable. It has a 13B engine. I'm assuming thats pretty decent.

I see people spend more than that on basicly a junk car, something that needs a totol rebuild. This car dont sound that bad, and for the price i wouldnt complane.

If it looks good, and drives ok (no smoke or running rough), that sounds like a great price for an S5 vert!

Ok in your case then if the interior was mint or very close to mint and the body was perfect minus some paint fade I would take it. It is to hard to find these things in this old of a car. Everything else can be fixed easily.



Just know to get the car back to great condition like it should be and a new housings/plates will be needed to many miles to rebuild the core. It will take a good bit of money. Think of it as an investment for a car you are going to keep for a long long time from this point.

Like other people have said if the car is in overall good shape. for price thats pretty good and with the milage you should be able to bring the price down abit.. just mention that it is going to need a rebuild soon.. ( depending on compression test results)..





this is a good statement that ice made..

Think of it as an investment for a car you are going to keep for a long long time from this point.
