When it's cold out and I first start my car the idle bounces from 500 to 1.5k RPM, is this normal? it levels off once it gets warm....the guy who did my clutch said that's not normal, but he's a tool and mine is the first 7 he had ever worked on...any help or info is GOOD!!! (also there is a pretty good sized hole in my first Cat Conv, is that gonna harm the car at all??)

thankx

Thats normal its called the AWS(acclerated warmup system) You can remove it if you want, its on you throttle body, its removal is part of the TB(throttleBody) mod, which is in the 2nd Gen FAQ section. If you live in a cold area you might not consider removing it, if you do you have to let it warm up w/o driving.

thats the funny thing, if you did buy a brand new 90gxl it would either shoot a huge cloud of smoke out, flood and not start, or have a bouncy idle

page 57-58 Fuel and Emmission control on Factory Service Manual. My car did it until i disable the aws system. And yes it does it regardless of the tps. yes a new 2nd gen would do it. And no it will not bouce as you say thats way too much, that is a misadjusted tps.

3rd gen section.
