Just got my ehaust in yesterday so I snapped some pics considering there seems to be some confusion or lack of info about this catback.
I bought it to replace my corksport catback that was driving me batty on interstate drives and turning everyone's heads (including the cops) First let me tell you that everything is included with this kit to get it on the car providing you have the stock exhaust hangers. Including a nice exhaust clamp, bolts and exhaust gaskets. Second Everything went together as it should I installed the "Y" then hung the mufflers, then connected the Y to the mufflers, then tightened it down to the midpipe, and it came out perfect. Let me say that if the corksport was an 8 out of 10, then the borla setup would be about a 3 out of 10. It is extremely quiet (on a turbo car). I'm talking a step louder than stock, even with a downpipe and presilencer. You'd think that restriction would equivilate to a loss in power, and while I have noticed just a little later spool up time (only noticable if your staring at boost gauge/rpm) all the same power is there. And considering I'm going from a "straight-out type" exhaust, to a stock replacement setup. That's pretty damn remarkable. Here's some pics of the exhaust it'self, I will have a couple pics of it installed and a quick video of it idleing after work today. https://www.nopistons.com/gallery/al...4/DSC00646.JPG https://www.nopistons.com/gallery/al...4/DSC00647.JPG https://www.nopistons.com/gallery/al...4/DSC00648.JPG https://www.nopistons.com/gallery/al...4/DSC00649.JPG https://www.nopistons.com/gallery/al...4/DSC00651.JPG |
Looks nice! Cant wait to see it on your car and see some vid of it.
You silly bitch. |
When I say the corksport is 8 out of 10 and the borla is 3 out of 10, I'm talking volume.
It's kindof a nice change to have a hella fast car that, doesn't make all kinds of racquet getting you there. I wonder how many tickets it will save me too, (im now officially a sleeper) |
for the time i had my car i had absolutely no problems with the cops...maybe its the ones around ur area
|
whats the deal on the welds?
they look like someone who just learned to weld |
I'm assuming they are all hand welded as opposed to someplaces that just do robot welding. They don't look the best, but I did look it over thoroughly and it is a solid job, not the best looking tho.

It's not that I think they'll chase me down and ticket me for the volume, but if you try to give it some gas to play with a ricer or something, everyone is going to know it. |
mine is louder then hell (on my prelude) nobody cares around here unless you get pulled over for suspection of narcodics and they find nothing so they give you an exhaust ticket for the hell of it...
|
cant wait to see some vids.
|
that's the one from the store eh? so what is the pipe sizing and weight? and plz post vid.
|
Hmm, gonna have to consider replacing my Racing beat setup with that, the Borla's are pretty bad ass. Oh well no money to do **** so I guess I won't start dreaming just yet. LOL
|
well i spent all night tuning instead of recording videos, but I promise I'll get them tomorrow (unless I go to flutag, then I'll get the video's after that https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR But I still think the borla is amazing. I can't believe how well it muffles, but doesn't decrease boost response.
Before the "Y" it's 2.5", then it "Y"'s into two 2 1/4" pipes up to the round (approx. 8" diameter) mufflers, then the intercooled tips. I'm seriously thinking about getting another cat back for my n/a if I decide to keep it. Things to consider are that I have a turbocharged car obviously which is a muffler in it'self, so obviously a n/a will be a little louder, but considering the setup, I'd image it'd be a very mellow sound. Also I have the racing beat downpipe and presilencer as well. So it is possible that the little back pressure created by this system causes the presilencer to work better as well. I'll probably go out and snap a quick pic but videos tomorrow. |
also i thought that the borla was going to be a lot heavier than the cork sport cat back, but after lifting both of them, I'd say the borla is only about 10lbs heavier, 15lbs at the MOST.
In total I'd say it weighs in at about 40 lbs maybe? That's a guestamite. |
hows the racing beat compare?
|
ok i have a video of the exhaust, but I don't have anywhere to to host it cause jims asleep. LOL
so if anyone wants to host it, or just watch it my AIM is aki11ez (#1 instead of L's) and I'll send it over aim. |

Can't you upload to the gallery?
If not, upload it to the downloads section under exhaust https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png |
https://www.nopistons.com/forums/index.php?download=18
ok it's in the downloads section. Enjoy. I might get another clip with a little better sound. |
"Sorry, an error occurred. If you are unsure on how to use a feature, or don't know why you got this error message, try looking through the help files for more information.
The error returned was: You may not download any more files until 24 hours has passed." wtf? |

You would replace an rb setup with that? Why? No offense but that setup doesnt really look to great compared to an rb setup. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif

No offense but what's so great about the RB setup LOL anyhow it was more of an "I'll need to replace my exhaust soon and I'll prolly go with the Borla." I'm not replacing a brand new RB system if that was the idea you got. And as I mentioned it isn't going to be anytime soon as I do not have the cash flow necessary to buy the gas to put in my car let alone parts for it https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png |
Finally, someone that took a pic of this exhaust. So that's the part that uses a clamp hmm. Weird like they coudn't just have it one piece for the y.

i would guess it'd be easier to ship in pieces like that.

damn I was planning on going for the borla and now Ive made my decision, sounds way nice.
|
I didn't know 2 1/2" polished tips could look so different? i didnt mean the tips look different, though im not crazy bout those borla tips but i was referring more to the piping. I dont know those welds scare me a little and it just looks like a flaky setup to me. What makes the rb setup so great? Its a quality setup, i like to think of it as the Rolex of exhaust systems and many would agree. I don’t wanna sound like a sales person for rb or anything but when I lookd into the rb setup, it showd very nice power gains, its quite, built very nice, and looks good at that. Im not saying the borla system isn’t good and to tell you the truth I have never seen one before so I shouldn’t say **** about it, just I never liked borla and always thought of them as more for domestics. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png |

the racing beat catback looks sooo much nicer, polished with clean welds, good hangers, and nice tips that fit the car. RACING BEAT ALL THE WAY! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif |
I would like the greedy exhaust now that system is ******* awesome. I saw it in person and i have never heard a nicer sounding FC. It was an a N/A W/ Racing Beat Header and presilencer and it was like a a 6 out of 10 WOT but a deep mellow sound no metallic sound at all.
But at $898.99 + Shipping they can keep that **** LOL |

the RB set up is $200 more, until now it was made of steel, now
the pipes are still steel but the mufflers are stainless. $200 is a big difference in price, I heard the Borla and it has a slightly quieter sound then the RB, the sound is a matter of choice- do you want to spend the extra $200 is the question. The Borla does have the 1,000,000 mile warranty, the RB has none. I am almost tempted to get the Borla mufflers in that sytem, the Borla mufflers I have now are wayyyyyyyyy too loud. |
I have this set-up on my vehicle. Have had no problems for the nearly 2 years i have had them mounted up. They sound great, look awesome and just perform very well for the price.
Granted i paid nearly $450 2 years ago for the cat-back system, directly from the borla site. You'll like them bolted up, they are have a very deep tone and do not too loud. In a way they remind me of the RB units... Very high quality |
bump.
i just ordered this exhaust. the vid doesnt seem to be around anymore. anyway to put it back up for a bit?. any pics of it on your car? |
no no, let him replace his racing beat if he wants, it is his car.... err, I will take those racing beat mufflers off your hands if you don't want them https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

i can't see the vids everytime i try to see them it redirects me to the index page.
