Everyone

A buddy of mine is having problem's with his 1988 RX-7 N/A, the engine has no power, it blows nothing but black smoke and it doesn't want to idle. When the car is idling, it sounds like a Harley and jumps 500rpm, while shaking like a 'mother'. The engine apears to be shot, but this doesn't sound like an apex seal to me, or is it, the Mazda dealship did a compression test and said the engine is junk. But what exactly is it and what could have caused it?

When black smoke is blowing out the exhast it is most likely the seals. At least thats what i've heard what happens when the engine goes bad.
