the factory has run 3 different tire sizes on a 14-5.5 rim

83 limited edition 195-60-14

and the 84-85 gsl-se 205-60-14



i prefer the 195's they have less sidewall flex

I've been eyeing the 195/60/14 Azeni's at discount tire for 60 bucks a piece. But mine would go on an extra set of rims, I don't know how well they would work for everyday driving.

I'm using the 195/60 Azenis on my phone dials for autocross. I love those tires. I think they'd be fine for everyday driving.. probably wear out pretty quick though depending on alignment etc.

195/60 is as wide as I'd go with the phone dial wheels. Some people go wider, but that's their call. They've convinced themselves that wider tires are better no matter how narrow the wheel. It's a narrow wheel and it needs narrow tires. 195 isn't too bad. You can find plenty of good tires in that size. Well, a few at least. The Yoko ES100's are very good tires for the occasional autocross while being a good street tire. tire Rack has them for $67 each. The Azenis? Everybody that I know that has them, loves them. But they are the kind of drivers that see a lot of autocross and "spirited" driving up in the hills.



Focus on what kind of tire you want for what kind of driving you see yourself doing. Budget? Get the best you can afford. After all, the tires are what matter most on a car. Once you have an idea of what you want, then focus on the sizes. The size that came with the tires from the factory are usually the best for the wheels.

i argee 100% its just that the factory has put a bunch of different sizes on that size wheel over the years
