You can have 2 sets of brakes that both lock all the wheels up, and they could be leagues apart in terms of fade resistance. Locking up wheels says nothing about your brakes.
And what have more pistons got to do with cooling?

^ completly disagree.
Better heat dispursment, i'll argue all day with you on this, I love braking systems, they have always intrested me and its one of the reasons I bought an FD3S. The stock brakes are amazing on these cars, truely a marvel.
Tires stop a car, not brakes.

For a guy interested in brakes it seems weird that you think that locking wheels up are a good way to test your brakes. Brakes have very little to do when the wheels are locked up, they're working hardest just before they lock up - which is where you want to keep the car under braking, which is where you experience brake fade.
Most brakes can lock up all the wheels. To say if you're locking up wheels you don't need new brakes is futile. All brakes fade to some extent - if they're fading too much get bigger brakes.

For someone like you, it seems weird that you would insist that larger diameter would increase breaking distances. Brake torque is what you were talking about I'm guessing, however as stated before, for the system he is going to run, stock brakes would work fine UNLESS he is planning on heavily autoX or roadracing the automobile, in which I agree with your statement on fading issues. What Im trying to convey is that for simple road usage, big brake kits are useless.
My statement about locking up the wheels is talking about the max potential of a braking system, but not to an extent of a roadracing or heavily on off braking situation. Know what i'm trying to say?

damn this has gotten very interesting.
well from a drivers stand point, i have driven a car with stock brakes and a big brake set up. the car with the big brakes from bear mind you did feel alot better to me for alot longer period of time.
with my car tire lock up is not an issue, i have not been able to lock up any tire for some time now , even with green stuff pads and power stop rotors and dot 4 fluid. my brakes suck *** and for what i want to do with the car i will need ever advantge kown to man to help.
anyways i see from the responce most of the people her are agenst this type of brake upgrade so there for i will just keep this one to myself when completed.
on another note this topic has turn out to be alot like the e-fan to clutch fan topic, and yes im an e-fan suporter.

his car probably already has the 4 piston brakes, and a FD's brakes are not that much better then a FC

my car already runs the mazda 4 pot and rear vented brakes from the t2, wich came on the s5 gxl stock.
