I was told from rx7club you guys would probably have a better answer, so let me cut and paste

I'd like to get some people's opinions on what would be the best intake manifold setup for my FC, At the moment I have a s5 na intake manifold setup with no vdi working and my 6 port sleeves removed on an aux bridge s4 na. I've seen people say a s5 intake setup works great on Stockports but don't really do to well on bigger ports, that true? My other options could be a full s4 na intake setup and we could por it or a s4 lim portmatched to the s5 vdi manifold, i know theres a few guru's around here that can help Well heres the list of power mods done to the car:

-S4 NA shortblock

-Rebuild W/RA Components

-Small Streetport/Aux is bridgeported

-Removed diffusers & port

-S5 Intake manifolds

-Full RB Exhaust (header,presilencer,ypipe,mufflers)

-Cone Intake

-Haltech E6K

-Jacobs FC1000

-TII Secondaries

We did a base tune yesterday and got 144whp &108TQ, Ignition break up was all the way across the board and no vdi, 6 port sleeves removed (might have done some good or bad), also my tuner said we had about 6" of vacuum at wot and he said thats holding back some ponies for me and some removed vac caps because he said it'll idle better (eh?). We even swapped the plug wires and still got break up, any input on that? Thanks alot! heres the bridge:

Heres the dyno sheets:

I got some msd 8.5mm wires now, probably changing plugs before I go again and I want to see if this manifold would be my best setup, I tried pm'ing kahren to see if one of his manifolds would suit me good but no pm yet. Thanks for the help.

You shouldn't need TII secondaries if you are using stock N/A manifolds

Let that thing breathe before you throw more fuel at it

Curious what engine management you run, and if it's at all possible to lock your timing

OEM computer, enh.. I have bad experience with ignition timing... Not to mention you have no control of the fuel injection

Anyways..

Personally I think you need to make a custom manifold... Are the 6 ports on the IRON combined or are they still separate?

If you go with ANY manifolds, go with TII manifolds so it can breathe better..

But even then it's not really ideal, there is a better way to tune the motor with a custom manifold.

But just FYI, the runners are bigger and better on the TII components, it just takes some work to make them bolt up to a 6-Port..

I ran a stock 6 port engine with TII manifolds, I have a modified S5 JDM TII LIM that bolts to a 6 port block with the two ports combined..

Even with stock ports, using the TII manifolds in conjunction with an EMS, and no AFM (can't stress that one enough), I saw a bigtime power increase, the car really "woke up" all over the board

But you shouldn't have all that overlap snorkelling through dinky *** 6 port OEM manifolds. Go with AT LEAST TII manifolds and work from there.

I am in the works of building a peripheral port engine for my car (custom manifold), and I no longer need my TII "6 port" LIM I made...

If you are interested PM me

The manifold is modified to bolt up to both a TII UIM and an FD UIM, and I have both FD and FC throttle bodies to match, and BOTH with full range TPSs for engine management. Yes, even the FC one, I fabbed it to accept a 1996 Mustang full range TPS, which is brand new.

I was really looking forward to tuning a 6 Port bridgeport engine, but I scrapped the idea for the peripheral port, now I have all these parts I was going to use for a 6 port bridgeport engine with EMS that I no longer really need.

I have pics if you want

word is the s5 intake flows better, but theres 2 things wrong. 1, its still too small, it will limit your power especially if the engine is ported. and 2 its still tuned for vdi/ping pongs/resonances of a stock port engine, which you dont have, so its not helping you there.

Well I can't find it either so heres some old pics to help illustrate

This is a S5 JDM TII LIM

You have to epoxy the indents in the gasket surface because the 6 port block passages will have to be cut into the indented section.

So basically fill it with epoxy, then smooth it to gasket surface, then goto town with your die grinder.

You can cut into the expoy and it has almost the same consistancy as the aluminum so no worries.

But it works, and no worries about the strength/life of the epoxy. My LIM is a year old now, saw -30 degree weather, and +30 degree weather, and even survived a severe motor overheat, and the epoxy didnt crack or come free at all even being bolted to one really really hot *** block (when that particular motor kicked the bucket).

Part of the runner wall IS epoxy, yes. And it works just fine. Trust me. I did it!

Shown is the part of the new runner you have to cut to make it bolt to a 6 port (bolt pattern is same it's just not the same RUNNER pattern), and also shown is the two indents that have to be filled and smoothed to gasket surface.
