man, it could be a lot of things:

vacuume leak

low compression

weak spark

bad injectors

timing

usually when a car has symptoms like yours you're dealing with too much air, not enough fuel. at idle the air/fuel mix is fine (at least enough to run). soon as you tap the "go stick" the butterflies open letting in more air and the fuel isnt keeping up for some reason.

theres write ups for the vac leak somewhere on this forum. its easy

compression check write up is here somewhere too, but looks like you'll be forkin out for a tester.

timing shouldnt be too hard, look at the crank angle sensor see if its moved: in other words, look at where the bolt holds it: if theres a circular spot thats really clean while the rest looks dirty then thats where the bolt was and should be returned to (by twisting)

weak spark should be a self explanatory test. do the plugs one at a time and make sure that all the coils are grounded or else you'll fry the coils

you can find a good spark tester that your plug screws into at sears for $1 in the tools section, it even has a clip to hold it to a ground

as far as your injectors go: ****, I dont know... maybe someone else can help you with a cheap test for those if everything else checks ok

good luck man, dont give up.

If it had a vacuum leak, it would not idle by itself, and it would stay running with your foot on the gas, so that's not it.

Compression, spark, fuel...the basics of no-start checking.

I'd say your fuel system is fucked...like you have enough to start n idle but not enough to run...check the pump, pump relay and inertia switch...no idea where they're located in an RX7. But my inertia switch and pump relay are located in my trunk this is in my t-bird.
