since i build piston race motors for a living and rebuild/fabricate stuff for both types of motors on the side, i find that statement totally untrue.

OK, let me rephrase that. Anything that Razor_Wing, his dad, uncles, neighbors etc know about pistons is useless. The design is radically different, and the classic shadetree rebuild is totally different in design and technique than a V8. Sure, the underlying theory of power creation and conversion is the same in any internal combustion engine, but working with the metal is different than designing power curves.

Based on his background (and the fact that his dad doesn't seem to know anything about the 13B) I wanted to warn him about rebuilding one, and the differences involved in this unique engine design.

That's a GXL man not GLX, but no prob, we knew whatcha meant, looks like a lot of body work needs to be done, so unless he wants very little $$$ i would wait for a better example to come your way, that's just me tho, if that's the project car you've been looking for, more power to ya!!! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

Those pics don't do a good job representing the car, parly because it was wet today. The body actually does'nt need alot more then a REAL good clean up and wax job. I think It'd need a new nose and a new wing and a paint job in the fiture. But what amazed me is that the ONLY rust spot is under the center of the wing, and it's very small and not too bad! I think the body and interor is in good condention. If I could get ahold of the guy, I'd see if he's got the tittle, if so, I'd offer him like $200, no more then 450-500 though! The body paint is mostly REAL dirt and all, a paint job is expected though. He also has a SE that's in Much better shape, and has an engine, but it's auto :(. And it's burgendy and just an SE (how much diffrence is there in SE and GXL?)

FCmaniac 11-06-2003 02:00 AM

I couldn't see your pics with those links but basically the SE is the base model.. 4 lug 14" wheels, single piston front brake calipers, manual windows, open differential, no wing, etc. It has the same engine and trans as the other non turbo NA's. The GXL is nice because it has a limited slip diff. It's the only S4 to have an LSD next to the T2. It may also have the auto adjust supsension (look for a button in the center console for this). The GXL also has the big 4 piston caliper brakes and 5 lug 15" wheels. The SE is the lightest model which is good and can be modded just like any other S4. The only thing I don't like about the SE is the open diff.

Yeah, this GXL has the suspension adjustment buttons. I tried taking a pic of it, but it did'nt work out right, but oh well. I did'nt know the GXL had those big 4piston calipers https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png. COOL!!! I'm thinking of asking the guy how much for both, and use the SE as a model, and eventually sell it or part it our or something...dunno. But I REALLY like the GXL! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png Thx man! Come'on guys...I need your help...how much would you say is a "fair" offer for the GXL? How about both? How long would a T2 Conversion into that GXL take? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683473.gif
