I doubt the GXL could outrun a Fiero GT, and if it could, it wouldn't be by a whole lot. According to the site I'm looking at, they tested an '86 GT and an '86 GXL and the Fiero got a better 1/4 mile time, but the GXL went to 90 mph faster, (both trapped at high 80's) so it'd just be really close.

Pazuzu, Thx for the heads up. I got that it might be a 86 or 87 because the tail light housing was marked 1987 for the date, but that does'nt nessarly mean ANYTHING. I'll check the date tommrow when I come back from school, and if I can find out digital camera, I'll take some pics.

The ONLY spec sheet (0-60, 1/4mi, etc list) that I could find, showed the RX-7 to be slower, but it did'nt have ANY handeling specs... Could a RX-7 out handle the mid-engine and weight advantages of the Fiero?

Thx for all the help so far everyone https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png.

Oh, and I know the displacemnt and how to translate the engine names alredy https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png. But I DID not know there were SO many rottery engines! Will one of the 3 rotters or the 4 rotter go strait into the GLX? That'd HAUL ASS!!!! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

If by going straight in you mean fit, then yes, to a point, but a decent 20b (3 Rotor) costs about 5k from what i hear, and it's a LOT of work..find a decent T2 motor drop it in, and DON'T hurt yourself or the car https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png and from what dragon says in the 20b forum they DO haul ass :P

I figured it'd be REAL expencive, lol. I can't seem to find much of these on the FAQ https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/wacko.png . Oh well. Is the TII Twin turbo or single? What kind of performance should I expect with a TII in (acceleration, top speed, and handeling)? You guys are GREAT!!!

CrashFactory 11-03-2003 07:10 PM

single turbo, come to think about it, why the hell DO they call it a TurboII!?!?!?

pretty much everything to do with RX-7's is a little bit pricey, but well worth it, i had an 87 N/A and while not being REAL fast, nothing could touch it in the corners and i did street drag a bit and it did well......Find a decent 7, and motor, take good care of it and it will take car of you, damn i need another 7, a 2+2 at that :( anyone wanna sell me 1 and let me make payments!?!? :P

Didn't think so.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR

Sean

P.S. if anyone that reads this knows anything about 1st gens, did they make a turbo 1st gen!? hence 2nd gen's being Turbo II as in Turbo #2... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683621.gif

You would'nt happen to have any spicfics (sp?) to the RX-7 handeling (G-pad and slolem)? This is driving me crazzy, lol! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/wacko.png https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif

How accurate are these acceleration #'s:

http://www.petting-zoo.net/~gkm/rx7/specs.html

According to that, my fiero could beat the GLX in a flat race, but I still can't find RX-7 GLX handeling specs...anyone want to help? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Thx for the bump, but I'm not looking for flames on my fiero or any other car, just looking for specs and info on Rx-7's. If you say you could make your TII do 13's in the 1/4, then are you saying that the database is wrong?

Oh, and I've got our digital camera today, so I hope to take some pics today and get the model date and Vin#. I'm also going to try to catch the owner and find out if he's got a tittle and if he'll sell it.

The fact is, there is alot of power hidden in the 13B that can be used with some minor basic mods (the classics, intake, exhaust, and the list of stuff in the FAQ). With those mods, and good driving, and good tires, you could take a NA RX-7 and beat most any stocker. These mods are on the order of $500 complete.

The RX-7 has some of the best handling out there. Period. Learn to drive it to it's limits, and you can whip porshes in the twisties. First, they had excellent weight distribution. Second, good strong RWD. Third, a truely linear torque curve. Forth, high RPMs.

So, you can sit in a lower gear, keep the revs up where the engine is happy, and have power on demand (no emergency downshifts for power in the curves). When you enter a curve, you're powered from behind and the weight distribution keeps things flat. No kick out in the turn. Then, since the torque curve is so easy to guess, you'll learn exactly when to get into it when exiting the curve, there is no power bumps or flat spots to fool with you.
