Thumbs up

Ok, I'm BRAND SPAKING NEW here. PLEASE don't flame me for such, everyone was a newbie at one time. First I'm going to say I know I can't spell, lol.

Ok, I've ALWAYS like rx-7's and all rotery engines, but I never took the time to learn about them. I want to know, And I want one too!!! I graduate High School in like 1.5years, and I want to get an RX-8 when I do. I've found a RX-7 fairly close to me. The bad thing is, I know next to NOTHING about the models, etc. I've been looking a reading, but I don't have the time tonnight annymore, and I can't seem to have any luck finding info, speed/handeling specs, etc.

The car is an 86 or 87 or something GLX (I think, I know it has a X, lol) 5speed, 2seater, it has a cool wrap arround wing (factory) and the tail lights are round (where the light comes out is round, not the housings). It's white and there is the WIREDEST thing in the center consle, these 2 buttons that you can press to change the suspenssion from "normal" to "sport". Is this suposted to be turbo? It has NO motor, and I'm not shure what the guy want's for it. It's been there a while. I currently have a Fiero GT, and I'm trying to figure out if this thing could possibly out run and out handle my little fiero. If so, It could be a possible project car. I'd like to turbo, but I'd have to get a engine first, lol. Can anyone tell me anything about this? I don't want to do a piston swap, alot of the reason I want an RX-7 is because of the rottary engine! Any help PLEASE, thx.

I'm going to go tommrow after school and see if I can find the owner and find out how much he want's for it... I'll post if I do. Thx in advance

Razor, you need too read up in the 2 Gen F.A.Q. Its a GXL, and they came w/ push button suspension. And IF it had a motor, out running a fiero would not be a question. Unfortunatly without a motor, you cant out run anything..lol...

What kind of 0-60, 1/4mi, G-pad #'s could the GXL get? What engine did it have (I know 13b, turbo or not)? How hard would it be to put a TII in? (it it T2 or tii?) And the Fiero GT is the 2.8 60*V6...so it could out run it? And what would the top speed be on a GXL?

edit: and I'm going to go work on the faq and then some more tommrow too .

Turbo II = Turbo

TII swap - --> F.A.Q.

Fiero vs RX7 - --> Gimme a ******' break...Any day

Top Speed - --> How fast do you wanna go?

Motor - --> 13b = Read The F.A.Q.s

Test Scores go as this:

12.A

13.B

20.B

Razor,

I got an 86' GXL normally aspirated (non-turbo). The stock top end is 138 MPH. Stock BHP is around 160 but that is not what this car will put on the ground at the rear wheels. The difference is Brake Horse Power or Dyno Horse Power and Rear Wheel Horse Power.

The 12a, 13b, 20b, so forth are named for their displacement in liters and other factors in the rotory evolution. For example the 13b is right around 1.3 liters displacent ad the 20b is a 2.0 liter. Which means a 13b is smaller than even the wimpiest little Honda on the road today. Wankel's rotory engines crank out insane amounts of HP per liter of displacement.

If you get a seven or an eight respect it. Many a young man has ended up in a tree or in a ditch for not respecting what these cars can do. Now go forth my young paduwan learner. Go forth but do not multiply! Child support is expensive about the same a car payment! Damn them and their high tech paternity tests.

THAT IS BULLSHIT I PULLED OUT HER WAY EARLY!!!

And nobody has commented on the fact that it is either an 89-91 model, or he swapped the taillights out. Better made damned sure you know what you are getting before you drop any money. Good bet is to check the door tag for the production date, and/or snap a photo or two of the car/interior and post it here, there are some styling differences between the 86-88 (S4, series 4) and the 89-91 S5.

Good call!

And run the VIN number too. Hell make sure the VIN numbers match for that matter. Tap the VIN on the firewall for bondo. Believe it or not there is a common way to change VIN's that includes some body style work. I bought my GXL for a song and as a project car, but I am having a hard time getting a title on it now. Do your homework before you buy it. Look on the internet at the any of the numerous VIN check sites or if you have time you can do it cheaply through your state/city DMV. This usually takes @ $2.00 and two weeks.
