I desperately need new mounts, stuff is clanking and banging all around. The scalliwag solid mounts are cheap. I like cheap.

I pm'd one guy at the club that uses them, he says the extra vibration isn't really noticeable until higher rpm's. I want more words of experience from other folks. I have the mazdatrix competition-stiffnes front diff mount, if that affects anything.

Pat, I would stick to the mazdacomp engine and tranny mounts for a street car. You can get them at www.mazdaformance.com

I too have thought about soild engine and tranny mounts, as my car will eventually be competition prepped but still streetable. Does anyone here run solid mounts?

inanimate_object 04-14-2005 11:28 AM

I'd go for polyurethane mounts - they're stiffer than rubber but also quite cheap. Maybe a rotary is different, but a solid mounted engine is pretty coarse. I'm a bit of a hypocrite here because I'm solid mounting my engine - but then that's the way it was in the bike.

Engine: $50.52 each

Tranny: $30.23 each

total: $161.50

The reason I was asking about the solid ones is they're 50 and 30 for each pair, I guess it would be worth it to wait longer and get the regular kind?

Baldy 04-14-2005 12:31 PM

Actually now I'm wondering if that is the price for the pair or each, it isn't quite clear.

If you're going solid mounts simplest and cheapest would probably be make your own.

solid engine mounts on my car only gave me minor vibrations, not anything like putting them on a 350 or something. In all honesty after a couple days i stopped noticing the vibrations anyway.
