Call me crazy, but my point is if you have the engine out, why not just go thru the thing right then and there and have no surprises later? Is it not worth the rebuild kit if you want to have something reliable, especially if your going to mod it?
my first engine, EVERYTHING BROKE! needed atleast $3000 in parts to rebuild..... instead i got a $600 jspec. jspec #1 got it started smoked profusely so bad you couldn't see my house that had a blown coolant seal, took it out got another one this one looked good, jspec#2 car ran good then drove it 1 mile temp gauge shot to H, overheated, looks like water pump failed or coolant seal gave out. no way to tell unless i tear it down. rebuilding the engine isn't cheap parts are expensive!!! as of right now my options are get a reman, buy 13BAce's engine, or rebuild this one. i would like to buy 13BAce's but i'm still weighing out my options....

I have not done it yet, but it doesnt seem too difficult. I'll know more after this week just removed the oil pan off my 6 port, waiting for the UPS guy to come with my flywheel stop and engine stand head from mazdatrix. Things look damn good so far.

Damn, dude! You're just not meant to have a running RX-7, are you? My '89 is slow, but at least it runs.

Good luck, man, with both of your rolling paperweights!

You're right! In fact, just to be nice to you, I'll gladly trade my '89 for both of your cars. Those things are really just too much stress on you.
