hey everyone,

while i drive my car, hot air is constantly blown through the shifter boot. my boot isnt really attached at the bottom so its wide open. and the area by my legs gets pretty damn toasty. is there a heat sheild that i might be missing or what? and is there a way that the oil from the shifter would come out like maybe a gasket or something???

It is probly an exhaust leak, is your car also louder than it should be? it is the same for my car and that is the reason for me

I think it's pretty normal considering.. Your shifter boots are probably gone, it's normal for heat to come up from it.

Transmissions get hot

All FCs I've known are like this..

is the heat coming up from the shifter if so you need the ruber boots that go around the shifter

Your leaks were way back at the mufflers

I can't picture that coming up by the shifter area

Sounds to me like an exhaust leak. Or it could just be that the car is being driven hard and the tranny heats up nice and good.

In my 320i Turbo when i take it to the track and do a few fast laps the shift lever gets to hot to touch. Makes it real hard to drive, but i have a decent shift know that cuts down on the heat.
