air pump?

Hee i have a 87 fc and non turbo and i sold the car not running and and i bought it back a few months later and when i got it back it was running but i notice the person who got it running had like half assed it, and i noticed the air pump wasnt even there, the car ran like ****, i put a air pump and all that back in the car and everything else that i noticeed was wrong and it ran a lil better but my queston is do u need the air pump or is it jus the turbos that can run without them and turn out fine

air pump is paper weight, but you cant just take it off, you have to have some block off plates

i think the s4 use exhaust pressure for the 6pi to work on s5 the air pump is used to actuate the 6pi. since you have a s4 i would check to see if your cat is plugged up if he took the air pump off correct me if im wrong

the air pump runs into the air control valve on the lower intake manifold. If you remove the air pump you must take off the acv and block it off. If your cat is still intact you need the air pump. If it was run long with out the pump its most likely clogged now. I would almost start over with the car if it were me since its unknown what was hasnt been done or done to it.. New vaccuum lines, gaskets, and really check the thing over.
