Anybody know if somebody makes an aftermarket steel or aluminum waterneck for the S5 cars? I hate the plastic ones and flat out don't trust them after the constant abuse and heating/cooling... I know that over the years they turn brown and become very brittle. The S4 uses a metal one, so why did mazda go to plastic? Any reason on this?

If I can't find a metal one, i'll be making one....

Do the S4 necks bolt onto the S5?

be tough. the s5 is a smaller diameter and the bolt holes are in bulges that stick out

Yea, way ahead of you on that one, lol.. I have an extra s4 and I was like...maybe just cutting/welding a new flange would work...no, not the case, lol.. that would be nice though.

I just don't know why mazda got away from the metal, maybe cost..who knows.

you could just run the whole s4 water pump assembly if you have a spare one.

then with the s4 pump you can use the s4 neck.
