The rx7 AFM is most likely an upgrade for the 626. Early model Miata guys use 86-88 AFMs because they flow a bit better. Im not sure about the DSM setup, but I doubt its a direct swap.

I highly recommend a standalone EMS as the best way to eliminate the AFM altogether.

unfortunatly i have to appear stock, i was thinking about removing the AFM inerts and connecting it to the throttle body since it works at teh same rate but if there is a proper way to di it im all ears...

maybe its just me but it dosent make sence to "upgrade" my afm to a RX amf, seeing as how its a 1.3l that spins to say 9k rpm and i have a 2.2 spinning 5500rpm, the miata 1.6 and 1.8 may benifet from it but i dont think that my car would...

basicaly wat im looking to do is get the only restriction on my intake to be the filter, TB, manifold, and head and then work it from there

i have seen a AFM conversion on a 2gRX but i didnt get the maker off of it "stupid me"

are there any other routs i can go w/o going standalone?

i have to try and pass emissions, sofar i passed with a hollowed cat and burning 5q of oil every 200mi or less

Your burning 5 quarts of oil in less than 200 miles! And you wanna modify your engine?

You should be thankfull every day that thing runs.

I agree with RONIN here. Rebiuld it and then think about modifying the car.
