ok well i am about to buy a 1988 Turbo II rx7. It has a T3 turbo, external wastegate, 3" down pipe, greddy power extreme exhaust, 3" fmic, Hks fuel computer, 600 cc secondary injectors, upgraded blow off valve. Kid said on the way back from getting the turbo work done, the car started smoking bad and stalled out. He said the next time he tried starting it the cooling sytem was getting compressed and the car would not start. That is the problem with the car. The motor was rebuilt 1400 miles ago, and the t3 turbo work not even 50 miles. What do you think the problem is, a coolant seal? also how involved is replaceing this seal? does it sound like this is the problem? Any help is appreciated, Thanks Jim

I'd suggest a compression check. Is the rebuild still under warranty?

Why the T03? I hear they're kind of small for the 13BT. Was it a new turbo or some junk somebody had sitting around? Is the turbo water cooled? Is it plumbed correctly?

No the turbo is not water cooled, it was installed new, and is plummed correctly, the motor still turns over but wont start due to the coolant problem. Would a bad coolant seal cause this problem?

bad coolent seal is kind of like a blown head gasket in a piston engine, however in a rotary that involves tearind the motor down and basicly rebuilding it...

Yep thatys a rebuild. Are you sure the engine is a 13BT? Sounds like he had a mishap after getting his new shiny and blew a coolant seal.

To3 is fine btw. Its a touch small if you want a gang of HP but better for performance purposes.

Just my opinion of course
