I'm all for putting a 350 in a FC. But only in the case that there isn't already a motor there. If you have a parts car sitting around, and no engine, go for it. I'd still rather see at least the body of a fc on the road instead of the junkyard.

and if you play it smart with a v8, you could kill ferraris and lambos. Easily.

dont argue this

swapping engines and parts is what hot rodding is all about.

rotaries aren't made to be hot rods

isn't that what american cars are for?

One day I'm gonna pop a 350 in my parts car just to tick off some of these uppity folks. I love the rotary, but I see nothing wrong with getting a car back on the road with a different powerplant.

What is so uppity about wanting to see a rotary engine in a rotary car. I personally dont like the V-8 swap. But... I understand the desire to take a superior chasis that is light and put a lot of power in it. So, again if that want you want go for it.

Like I have said in other threads. Rotary privledges will be revoked.

What kind of RWHP do you think you need to beat Ferraris and Lambos easily??

A stock 350 has what? 260-300 Flywheel HP at best?

SO how much will it take to get another 150 HP out of a 350? Cheap bolt ons??

In the end you could build a rock solid Turbo Rotary setup with about 375 RWHP and it will last you a long long time. Assuming of course you dont get greedy and turn up the boost and you maintian it.

it doesn't take much to beat a ferrari, porsche, lamborghini in a quarter mile, they aren't made for quarter miles, they are made for going around a track very quickly. an rx-7 with a 350 will not beat it around a track.

Its your car do what you want. I would have picked a different forum to post this in though. RX7.com or FC3S.com. This one is called Nopistons... No - Pistons. Personally I think its neat when someone takes a car destined for scrap and breathes some life into it regardless of how it is achieved.

Good luck with the swap if you decide to do it

I was going to swap in a ls1. They are all aluminum, and when installed with the granny's kit, retains the near 50-50 weight distribution. You can do the same suspension mods that you would do to a stock fc, and get the same results.

As far as making power goes, getting 400+ hp out of a v8 is much cheaper than doing the same with a rotary. If you build a 450 hp rotary, the supporting mods will be ungodly expensive. you can get a clean 450hp out of a N/A v8, where you would need forced induction on a rotary.

the advantages of a v8 are numerous.

I still hold to my thoughts that rotarys are better. The things you can do with 1.3 litres are incredible.

the v8's just have us out placed. If mazda came out with a rotary that was matched to the size and weight of a standard v8, the results would be amazing.

imagine a 5.7 litre rotary. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/blink.png

https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/dunno.gif you'd still have to buy the engine/tranny/kit.

A running car is infinitely times better than a non runnning car.

There is no arguing this fact.

just because something is better, doesn make it right.

rx7man629 01-16-2005 04:47 PM

Its just a thought, id rather see the car running than in the junkyard. plus its an 88 so its slightly lighter than 89 and up.
