first, im looking at some rims for my 89 GTUs, i want to go with a set of 18s for sure but how wide should they be and what should be the offset? i want them to look good and not stick too far in or out, im lowering the car 1 3/4'', what do you suggest?

next, my car tops out at 120mph and im still in 4th gear, what the hell do i do?

lastly, i want to get rid of anything thats not needed in the engin such as the power steering and whatever else i can, what is needed to do this?

thanks for helping any advice is greatly appreciated

I would say you ill need to roll the fenders and go with a lower offset, but I am sure that a few here are running on 18s and know how to do it without doing much work.

I dont know what the top speed in an NA is, but I would think it would be around 130, so something could be wrong. Have you inspected the cats?

You can put a manual rack in place of the power steering rack. But I do not know if not having the PS sensors will screw with the ECU or not.

You can convert your p/s rack to manual and just remove the power steering computer and the car will never know what happened.

You can remove:

P/S, A/C, OMP, Emissions, Rat Nest, Air Pump, Idle Controls, Secondary Butterflies in your TB, etc.

theres tons of **** you can remove if you do it right. i stripped my t2's motor down to the bare essentials and on my n/a i stripped out everything except i needed p/s and a/c.

Gearing wise, it it capable of 170ish, but the power cant take it to that. The simulation I ran said 137 for an NA and 147 for a T2, which sound about right for a tip-top shaped RX.

18x7.5, +40 offset, 235/35/18. The rears you can go wider, or less offset.

well i have down pipe and mid pipe with presilencer going into a greddy power extreme catback, the motor has 8k on rebuild, and im still only hitting 120, now will the car be quicker if i remove P/S, A/C, OMP, Emissions, Rat Nest, Air Pump, Idle Controls, Secondary Butterflies in your TB, that should free up a lil ponies right? what if i authority chip my ecu? arent these governed? theres gotta be something i can do.

anybody try the rb road race headers? i heard they were junk, i nead a set to finish off my exhaust.

I have open exhaust on my 90 N/A, and have the same problem (120mph in 4th). I'd say its about normal. 5th gear is useless (for acceleration).

keep in mind elevation affects top speed also. mine gets up to 120 fairly quick and im at 4500ft. NA with headers,no cats, duals, filter, manual steering rack. never topped it out completely but my friends car is only a length or so behind mine in a drag and he hit 132. but with the stock speedo who knows how fast you are really going. but 120 sounds pretty low to me
