Ok, for those that don't know I'm in the works of opening a small rice shop/rx7 shop in the fall. My co-partner and I have been trying to come up with some good performance parts for both the Rx7 and the MR2 that we could specialize in and sell at the shop. Well, today we spent oh about 23 hours(yes, one hour of sleep) designing a new intake manifold setup for the 86/88 NA Rx7s(I have extra manifolds left over, so it seemed like a good place to start). Well, since we're both computer dorks, we drew up an idea of what we would should do on autocade, paper, and then...we went to the drawing board. We sandblasted, ported, polished, and port matched the test manifolds to our newly aquired '86 base model Rx7 w/ a street ported motor and full exhaust, etc..too much to list(its actually my co-partners bros car), anyways...it started right up w/ NO problem...we then proceeded to head to our closest dyno tuner(which took about 4 hours of the 23 i mentioned earlier)...anyways...on the way there you could tell an immediate difference in throttle response and the butt dyno gave it a 10, lol. Ok...so we throw it onto the dyno....brings up a nice 187.3 RWHP...not bad for a first run. We did encounter an odd stumble around 5RPM...but that was later found to be electrical...so we messed around a little bit, and reran...it got up to 193.2RWHP and 189lbs of torque...all this isn't that bad and we felt good that nothing blew up, lol. We did not know that the car had PREVIOUSLY been dynoed at 168RWHP...his bro failed to tell us until we got back and told him the results....thats almost 20HP from the manifolds alone...we took them back off and are trying to get them a little more smooth...ya know, for that extra 1 or 2HP, lol. Well here is a pic before we threw it on the car. I'll post the dyno results when we get it scanned...

Here's a shot of the portmatched side of the upper manifold...

...so what do you guys think, cool? Or should we not waste our time? I'd imagine on a regular ported motor w/ intake and exhaust, it'll gain ya about 10/12RWHP...the one we made today was a mild port job, we left room for more porting just to be sure. We're gonna make another one tomorrow for a buddy of mine's 89 GTU. We can make them any way you'd like, we'll probably start offering them to the public soon. We just wanna make sure we get everything tested and figure out costs, etc. Also, the streeported car we used today has a few bugs and we're gonna fix them and run it back to the dyno for some final tuning, lol....

Thanks for the support, that damn thing took 7 hours, lol. Today we ended up playing around with our new tools and bored out my buddy's MR2's TB...it worked out "OK" but we really can't tell a difference...his motor is stock and only has a cone filter and ignition.

Well, I believe we are going to do the port/polishing on core trade ins...ya buy one, you give us your old one...that kinda thing. We are going to offer 3 different types, street; street/strip; and race. The types depend on how large of a port is done, and sandblasting and powdercoating will be options(we hope powdercoating will be...we're still debating).

As for pricing, for just the upper manifold, the RACE version will run about $175, it may seem steep but we're still in the works-maybe it'll get cheaper, lol....the other options will be cheaper, and we'll probably cut deals for combo of upper and lower if you buy both...I'm gonna be selling the ones we did yesterday soon...

and yes 168RWHP was for the SP motor...it was a mild street port w/ 2" exhaust all the way back, cone filter, ignition, and a bunch of replaced parts...not bad..but it has a weird stumble everynow and then...the ignition needs to be worked on I think...

sounds good but why would u sell street/strip etc. version? why not just sell race? ya know if someone is going to get it done why not spend the extra to go all the way? Why are there different versions? if i was staying N/a i would send u a check right now! but sorry...

Unhappy

I'd love to have that kind of power from a single part. Let us all know when those puppies will be available, and I'll be first in line for a street or street/strip. Hell yeah!
