so whats the feeling on 17" versus 18" rims for our cars?

anyone went to 18's from 17s and have any comments?

Roads aint great around here, and im too old to care about looking cool over some comfort, I also

dont want my car getting banged up from the wheels hitting the body.

I have 17s now and its time for a change, but im really torn between 17 and 18

I like 17s they won't get distroyed by the road and will give you a little more side wall for better grip and drivabilty and I think 18s are a little big for a performance/sports car. Just my opinion tire are also alot cheaper for 17s

put me down for 17's. less rotational mass, more sidewall.

key is in weight...

the 17s offers a taller sidewall.. 18s are slightly shorter..

18s typically provides for a larger selection of wider widths..

18s looks good.. 17s cost less for the most part

as far as your concern with the wheels hittin the fender...

factor in your suspension.. height.. camber.. etc and wheel offset for that..

personally, i think if you want 18's get 18's, not like you cant change your mind again later, in fact its nice to change wheels here and there

i do also think that 18's looks a little big on an fc, but thats not a rule, just kind of a loose guideline

it seems alot of the rims I end up liking only come in 18's, or they will only sell 17x7 and no 17x9 in the same wheel

17x7 is honda size, thats why its popular.

my opinion is 18 is too big for the FC unless you find one that manages to look smaller then it is, which some people have pulled off. but like you said getting a proper sized 17 is hard, which is why so many people go custom, or at least high end. The *real* companies make 17's in rx7 widths suc as volk, work, ssr, etc. the knockoffs only make 17x7's and sometimes 17x8 because thats what honda/acura/fwd guys use and theyre the ones buying cheap rims.

Go talk to Rishie from AutoRnD over on the other forum, he is THE connect for rims, i think you need some nice Work Wheels.

or you can be like james and have 'real' porsche rims...... or be like me and have a full set of wheels youve opwned for 4 years and never removed from the boxes and some spray painted stock wheels and some knockoff enkeis and all kinds of horrid wheel crap.

im so looking forward to my rim and tire purchases...not the cost of it, but because ill finally have nice wheels. hell my damn DD evo has the nicest wheels i own on it...and theyre stock.

kevin.

I know most of the WORK wheels in 18 the offsets suck for FCs, forget Blitz in 18"

driving the car home tonight the 17s feel so good, they fill up the wheelwell great too

I really think I need to get over this "bigger is better" mentality about this subject
