hey, i was just reading about the air pump removal. i've already removed the pump, and just ordered the dual alternator pulley. i'm just curious...if my cats have been gutted, do i need to do anything to keep my 4/5 ports working? or should they still function as long as my cats are there (even tho they're gutted)?

If your running a series 5 without an airpump your VDI and 5th/6th ports will be stuck in low rpm mode.

If your running a series 4 with a straight pipe your 5th/6th ports will be stuck in low rpm mode.

with everything set for low RPM mode you will only have 100-120hp and theres no point reving over about 6kish because she wont breath enough to make power above that

You can remove the actuators and wire them into high RPM mode with some bailing wire, but you will lose alot of low end to where below 4500 the car has NO *****, but you'll have alot more power to redline.

Its really your choice, I bought my RX7 to go fast, so when my auxiliary ports were stuck shut I wired them open. It makes low end acceleration pitiful, but I'd rather have less low end and have to downshift than get outran by a honda accord... Also I was drifting on a weekly basis, and having no ***** above 5500 made it more difficult to keep her sideways. That was on my Series 5.

You can try it, and if you don't like it wired for high RPMs you can just revert it back to how it is now. if you remove your actuators and can't rotate the sleeves, then shoot me a PM, I have corrected that issue without removing the intake manifold.
