the more I look at that engine the more I like the details put into it, no polishing needed, clean always looks good.

I think it has made me change my mind about how im going to paint my motor.

Where is your turbo's oil return line plumbed into the dry sump front cover?

Mine did not come with any provisions to to plumb in a turbo oil return line and am thinking of drilling and tapping into where the mop would normanlly go to keep it up high, free and clear of any oil in the flat bottom sump.

I used a front timing cover from a turbo 2 engine .

Are you sure about that?

I did not think it was possible to do that with the internal dry-sump pump setup. If it is possible, why?

Seems it would cost more to make it work through a custom setup than just using one of the two front covers Mazda provides with the system.

Can you possibly take a pic of the exhaust/intake port side of the engine and front cover, perhaps even where the turbo's oil return line goes into?

Also, on that note, you may want to keep in mind that you may encounter smoking issues with the turbo since the oil drain line is blocked by oil in the shallow sump area. Some people have run pumps from the turbo to the sump tank. See post #65 and on:
