Dragon could prolly tell you.I think anything around .25" is plenty thick.It just has to seal around the carb and manifold.

mine is 1/2 inch.. go at least that thick and weld it as a solid peice so it doesnt' warp when you weld it, then cut out the hole and tap the mounting holes etc..

That's a good idea. So, are you talking about welding the flange to the UIM?

Yes he is.Except he is talking about welding steel to aluminum and your welder won't do it.You need a high power mig running pure argon and aluminum wire to weld aluminum.Could get a shop to do it using a block of 1" thick aluminum.First tack all 4 corners then weld solid to prevent warpage.I should know I work at a fab shop.

I'm talking about welding aluminum to aluminum.. There is now way to weld steel to aluminum unless you have some super magic secret..
