20b Intake Manifold Questions
#31
I talked to the local guy and he's really close to getting his 20B into the T2. He won't make his decision about selling the UIM until the engine is in the car.
I contacted new owner of my UIM. I'm hoping to hear back from him today.

I guess the $50,000 question for right now is whether the Dellorto will work on the 20B UIM, or not.
Racer X, you once said the dellorto needs a certain type of vacuum signal that can't be provided on the 20B UIM. Is this because it won't have two 180º pulses on the 20B UIM that it would normally get on a Racing Beat manifold? Is this something that I'll even need to worry about?
The second, less expensive question concerns how well the incoming AF mixture from both barrels will flow into all six runners. Do you guys think it'll sort of 'mix' inside the plenum area of the UIM?
I suspect it was designed to allow equal pressure/flow from the TB to all three rotors. Of course that was for fuel injection. I'll go with fuel injection when I can afford it. I may even go with a turbo some day after an engine rebuild. I may even gain myself some room infront of the radiator for a FMIC.
Ahem, for right now, I need to figure out if the dellorto will work on the UIM. I gotta stay focused.

This dellorto of mine may have had those vacuum lines hooked up at one point, but as long as I've known about the carb, the only vacuum line going to it has been the brake booster line (and it's hooked to the manifold). There was an aftermarket set of hoses on the dizzy that joined together and went in the direction of the carb. The tube ended below the carb and I didn't see any naked nipples anywhere, other than a breather fitting on the air filter backplate (which takes a larger diameter hose). Racer X, you may have just made my day.

Thanks for the pics. I'll know by Monday which manifold to get.
