On my se I noticed the outside (away from the piston) brake pad is almost used up while the other one is only about half gone, I realize they are not sliding right, is this a piston/caliper problem or just a rust and build up of crud problem? I can make them slide in and out by hand. BTW I fixed my rust problem with a little work and a borrowed mig welder, body shop wanted $500.

I have had problems ith that on a number of cars, it is a result of the piston working correctly but the sliders hanging and draging the outside pad. Sometimes it can be helped but greasing the sliders, and possibly replacing the boots that protect the sliders from crud. If it doesn't help time for some new calipers. Godd Luck!

try some LITHIUM grease on the pins for the caliper....and have you checked your rotors recently? you might have something going on on the inboard side of the rotor that is causing them to be eaten.
