the fc ecu isnt a plug and go, you need to run wires for the cas, and the coils, plus it doesnt plug in under the dash, you have to make a harness. installing the fc ecu would be about as hard as the haltech, plus its more limited

I would say that I've probably got less than $3K in this swap.

I think the easiest and maybe even most cost effective way is to buy a T2 . I mean the whole car. That way you have almost everything you need to do it. I got mine for $1200.

Another thing to look at is who's doing the work. My friend owns a rotary shop, so I got quite a few deals. We made custom solid front engine mounts, so didn't have to worry about switching front covers.

If you're going through the process of doing this swap, you would really be foolish to not go ahead and street port the engine. Mine has rather large ports in it and it pulls ungodly hard.

Basically my set up is:

87 T2 "block" with large street port.

91 intakes and turbo

91 T2 tranny

Factory ECU and wiring (for now)

3" custom downpipe and exhaust

custom driveshaft

Starion FMIC

Still got a few things to do.

Good luck to you guys.

ah, okay I can see how the stocker becomes a problem. I see how the e6k would be easier to use. Well, I'll add that to my list of "things I need to turbo an FB"

I haven't got the car yet, and probably won't til after winter (damn me and my no-garage...).

Oh well, it'll give more time for planning and finding the perfect car to swap into, and probably give me time to receive the turboII motor and get a large streetport on.

I woulden't bother porting it unless you have to take it apart for another reason. I have all stock ports on my 13B-RE and it pulls harder than it needs to (can spin them in 3rd gear). You are right though, toss the T2 ECU in the trash and get a aftermarket one, no need to run the stock ECU unless you have a 95% stock engine. If you are looking for more than 250hp you should really upgrade the stock turbo and manifold to something that will flow better. Your engine will be a lot happier with the less back pressure on it and you will be a lot happier passing all those people with the stock turbos

I'm running the stocker S4 T2 Fuel injection.I plan on piggybacking the injectors to a apexi AFC fuel controller to help the motor get enough fuel for the mods it has and will be getting.I'll see how far the S4 EFI goes.

What extra would you have to do if you used, say a T60-1 turbo instead of a stock s4 or s5 turbo?

There maybe another way to mount a turbo on our hybrids.I'm waiting for my T04 manifold for a FD to see if it'll fit my FB chassis.Worst comes to worst I'll sell it for what I paid for it.

i think either an fc or fd manifold would fit. i'm under the impression that the 1st gen has the most room
