Im sure the question's im going to ask wont have a straight answer but here goes anyhow. How hard overall is a Turbo II swap into a first gen? How many man hours with decent tools and automotive knowledge? What kind of fabrication am I going to have to do aside from tranny, drive shaft and motor mounts? Also what would you estimate cost to be if I had motor(JDM),ecu, tranny and wire harness already. And should a rebuild be done on a good running JDM? I was thinking yes just to ensure long life and to do porting. Or would I be better off building up my 12a? I just figured more power gains from a turbo II then a 12a enlighten me please.

p.s if your going to flame me please do it in PM's.

No flames.

This thread comes up a lot. A lot of us either have T2 FB's or are in various stages of building them.

Have a quick squiz in 1st gen FAQ's and do a search on T2 swap's in this forum, I'll start you off though.

The swap is not as hard as you may think.

The T2 engine is side mounted and FB engine is frontmounted. So to make the T2 front-mounted (ie make the mounting a ****-load easier) you need to change the front cover and sump of the T2 engine.

So you need:

GSL-SE front cover

GSL-SE oil pan

You will also need to modify the front bracket to accept the larger 13b engine. So you can buy the RB bracket or slot the existing one to accept the extra 20mm that the 13b has over the original 12a.

You need to tap the front cover for the turbo return line.

umm, you can use the FB tranny or use a T2 tranny. The T2 tranny has slight fitment issues, but nothing too drastic. You can take teh shifter housing of the FB tranny and with slight modification, fit it to the T2 tranny, so the shifter sits in the right spot.

ANyway, have a look around the forum.

BTW, Welcome to np.com

not too hard, i'm almost done with mine. thanks to alot of the guys on this forum for always giving me good advice and answers to my dumb questions. she actually rolled over two days ago, but i found out i have bad fuel pump so i ordered a new one. the biggest issue you'll probably run into is older parts that need to be replaced, you might as well do it then while the car is not running just to make sure nothing fails when the fun starts.

to make things even easier look at a blow thru setup like this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...MEBBI%3AIT&rd=1

Then you don't have to worry about any extra wiring.

Not a bad deal. So far, I have NO regrets to putting the Holley system on.
