N/a motor swap into a tii

Does anyone know what has to be done to swap a 13B N/A engine into a turbo II and keep the turbo setup? I have a buddy who just bought an '87 Turbo II with a bad apex seal and has an '86 N/A with a running motor. He wants to swap the motors so his car is running while he inspects the damage if any and rebuilds it.

This is what I would recommend:

You'll have to use all of the TII sensors, injectors, etc. You'll need to use the NA lower intake manifold, and I suggest that you leave the 6 port sleeves out. If you want to keep using the TII upper intake manifold then you'll have to try port matching it to the NA lower. The turbo might hit the NA lower intake, but you'll have to test fit it.

I've never done it before, but I know people that have, and they said that the engine only lasted 6 months.



You might want to reconsider.

With proper tuning it would run well, but that's the hard part: Tuning.

The stock ECU's aren't really going to handle a setup like that very well.

Yeah, a standalone ECU would do a better job with the high compression and boost.

considering everything both inside and outside the engines are 100% different. I wouldn't even consider trying it. and no the stock turbo/manifold doesn't clear the N/A lower intake manifold. I'd suggest driving the 86 N/A car since it runs till you have the time/money to rebuild the turbo engine.



or if you only want to drive the turbo car. drop the whole N/A engine/harness ecu in and leave it as an N/A for now.
