Why do yo want to take the flywheel off? If you aren't going with a lightweight flywheel I would just take a brillo pad or 40 grit and ruff it up a bit.

Are you shittin me? I dont want to yank the tranny and just throw a clutch on a warped flywheel. If yer gonna do something do it right, especially when it involves yankin a transmission out of your car. I had a bad experience with a jumpy clutch in my Jeep because I didnt resurface the flywheel, plus not to mention that I drove the car for awhile with a bad clutch so I can only imagine what the flywheel looks like https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683431.gif

Do what yo like man, but unless you have realy abused the **** out of it there should be no point. Good luck with it though.

Thanks I just got it in the mail today, how hard is it to get the flywheel off of the motor, I read somewhere that a nut is holding it onto the eccentric shaft with ungodly amounts of torque. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif

If there's a mazda dealership near you, they have an awesome flywheel stabilizer that bolts on to the rear plate and holds the flywheel in place. The guy who built my motor has one. I saw it in action yesterday, it made my barbaric method look pitiful. He said the guy at the dealership let him have it.

I agree with everyone else..pilot bearing is definitely a must. My pb went out in my old fb. That thing made some horrible noise when i'd crank it up.

Yah I got a full kit, pilot ,throwout, p/plate and disc. Im puttin it up on the lift today to start pullin the tranny so I'll see soon how bad the damage is.

Okay but once its off... my torque wrench only reads up to 150 ft/lbs of torque. You just put it back on and hope it holds or is there a Mazda tool that i need to invest into before I commence with the clutch job? You guys rock, thanks for the answers ahead of time. This is the reason I sport NoPistons.com on my front window. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

if you have the 2 1/8th socket and an impact gun its easy

is THIS the hardened mount that was mentioned, or is it something else. i was looking in their racing section and didn't see anything about tranny mounts and i thought this one was just a stock MAZDA part ...
