Whats goin on people I finally ordered my new clutch and while the tranny is out is there anything I should do to the tranny/engine as far as seals/bearings go? I would rather knock it out now than a month down the road, thanks ahead of time.

front and rear seals

you may also want to check the rear main seal on the motor, too.

Throwout bearing and hate to say it--pilot bearing. The pilot bearing is real cheap but can be a PITA. I'd check it over real good and if it looks OK, then just clean and lube it up. Also if you want to put new bushings and springs in the shifter box, nows the time.

Pilot brng is a must if it has been awhile. Go ahead and get that over with now to save problems down the road. No lie, it is a PITA, so be prepared, get a brearing removal tool and or a dremel.

I would also replace the transmission mount with a new one. Mazdaspeed sells one that is of hardened rubber for racing.

Thanks I just got it in the mail today, how hard is it to get the flywheel off of the motor, I read somewhere that a nut is holding it onto the eccentric shaft with ungodly amounts of torque. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif

Off topic(but its mine anyways https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR ) but anyone runnin solid motor mounts and a poly tranny mount? Vibration doesnt bother me I just wanna know how it helped if any.

Well I used a hardware turnbuckle as a torque brace...

Does that count?

Yes it made a huge difference. Improved my 60' by .15 seconds on average. The vibration is only at idle on mine right around 1200 RPM after that its smooth sailing.

it's about 300 ft-lbs! it's not that hard to get off if you have the right tools. something to lock the flywheel and a wrench that will allow you to exert that much twist ... without those tools it's a royal pain in the ass to get it off!

1revnrex 01-08-2005 02:29 PM

Okay but once its off... my torque wrench only reads up to 150 ft/lbs of torque. You just put it back on and hope it holds or is there a Mazda tool that i need to invest into before I commence with the clutch job? You guys rock, thanks for the answers ahead of time. This is the reason I sport NoPistons.com on my front window. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png
