I was thinking of getting rid of that god-aweful black side molding on my 7, but I'm worried it's held on by clips that screw into the car. Does anyone know how they're held on?

Also, anyone have ideas/experience on how to get pin striping off? Mine is very old and chipped away in some places. I want to just start pulling it off, but worried the paint might come with it.

Pictures would be great if anyone has done either of the above. i coulda swore I saw somebody who took the black side molding off, but can't remember where I saw it.

Thanks in advance,

~Jessica~

Its just held on by double sided tape, they pulll off pretty easily.

The pin striping should pull straight off without too much trouble, it shouldn't bring up the paint. Mine didn't.

Been there done that. What a pain in the butt.Looks better if you do the three strips. The one in front of the door, the door and behind the door if you plan on stock sidemarkers.Otherwise the markers look gay with out strips around them.I should know.

yeah i checked out your 1st gen site and that does look a little odd with the front and back bumpers.

racerx's car without side moldings

Hmm..and that would really get away from the stock look. I just think those black moldings look like *** and you can really tell the car was made in the 80s. The pinstripping has to go though, it's really weathered. thanks for the input

EDIT: damn that picture was big...

Shave off the side markers on the front and rear fenders with side trim off it and it has a nice look.I like it except the bumpers.I'm just taking the 3 main ones off my GT-X
