Wink

hey guys, i got my exhaust on my gsl-se and now, at say about 4000 rpms, it loses power and will eventually bog out, this didnt happen until i put my exhaust on, which consists of a RB header, resonated race pipe, and resonated free flow muffler w/ 2in pipe throughout, i also removed the air pump and ACV, so has anyone had this happen to them before? or does anyone know of this happening? i was also revving the engine and notice the aux port valves werent moving, i have the check valve hooked into the exhaust but they still arent working, could it be possible the check valve is bad or the aux port actuators? anyways any info would help, thanx.

Probably shouldn't be "glowing" I think. Maybe something is clogging it like a slipped off gasket or something. The auxillary ports will activate under load but not at idle.

the actuators for the 5th and 6 ports, though be the culprit for a loss on power, specially on high rpms, will not make your headers glow. my car had stuck 5th and 6th ports for the longest. al it did was made me lose to a 2a cause id lose power up high.

double check the timing, i know for a fact that this ill cause your headers to glow.

also, what kinda headers are these. they might be getting burned in.

Ok, my money says that your engine is running rich. Running rich would create hotter exhaust, and it would also cause a power loss because your mixture is now wrong...Do you have the tube that opens the ports hooked up to the exhaust? Maybe you dont have the tube hooked up right, and thats your whole problem...If the ports dont open, then maybe your not getting the right amount of fueal/air in there and its causing all of this.

EDIT: Also, check your 02 sensor...Maybe thats not telling the ECU to inject the right amount of fuel which could also make the engine run rich. I do know however, that running rich is what makes the headers and sometimes the cats glow

well, i do have an ACV block off plate for the removed air control valve, i have a RB header and the check valve is welded into the exhaust, i also put a new oxygen sensor in before i put the exhaust on, so what im thinking is that the resonated pipe i got from rx7.com melted and is blocking off some of the exhaust, but im not sure, i already fixed the timing, im guessing its running rich, b/c the other night i took it out for a test run after tinkering with it and got stranded on the side of the road, the guy who picked me told me that when he saw blue flames shoot out my exhaust before the car died, so, would it running rich cause that? as far as the set up for my car, it has no air pump, no ACV(but has block off plate) RB header, custom mid pipe, rx7.com resonated race pipe with check valve welded in, all the way back to a resonated free flow muffler, so you guys think its running rich? how would i remedy this?
