Rotor Housing
I have a chance to buy a 13B out of a gsl-se for my 84. its street ported and has the Rb holley carb set up on it. I think it only has like 5,000 miles sence the rebuild but the only thing is they didnt replace the housing so he said it doesnt have as much power. He only wants $600 for the motor and the carb set up. The only place I found Rotor housing was mazdatrix for like $280 a pice is there any other place to buy them.

I was planning on buying the engine just for the carb set up. untill he told me the engine was ported, it would be an easier swap for me because I was going to run a S5 motor out of my 91. The only thing I am worried about is the motor because he said it dosnt have new rotor housings
The motor sounds like a good deal, might as well buy it. Once you get it you can do a compression check on the motor and see where it stands. If its good, you can use it, if not you can rebuild it or sell it without the carb setup. I think new housings are going to run you around 400.
just because its second hand dosen't mean its useless did he say the housins are scoured and peeling or something.aparently the factory specs tolarate some peeling of the housings .if you opened any motor you could find a can of worms .what if he had said it was fine and it wen't good you would be happy

I got my Intake for $200. locally
My carb is a 600 Double pumper /Mechanical secondaries.(Holley Reman)
Looked brand new at the time..for $240..
Thats $440.
Ok now heres big mistakes people do on Holley swaps...Since most people throw out the all of the emissions and vacumes...and weld the dizzy theres no reason to run vacume seondaries...You can get vacume secondaries carbs new like $200. flat
Check to see what carb he has...you can trace the numbers on the carb...to find specs on it ..(new from the manfacture)
Why would the guy say it doesnt have much HP cause of used rotor housings?UNLESS they are fucked up and his dumb *** put them back togethere....When you build an engine try to keep all of the same parts..unless you "have to' swap them...then you will have to deal with problems with rotor clearance..
