Thumbs up

Tommorrow i'm having a Mikuni sidedraft carb + complete holly fuel system put on my car. My car has headers and free-flow exhaust, and feels pretty good with the stock carb. How much extra power do you think i'll notice when I get my new carb and fuel system put on?

From what I understand, until you hit 250 hp, the nikki is a great, and very large carb.

I think in checking this out you should research jet sizes more than the actual carb.

jetting

Good luck!!

Ok.. the carb actually comes with a bunch of different jets, so i'll have to do some experimenting.

Ummm, NOPE. The stock nikki flows enough for 140-145hp MAX, that is all it is capable of doing. It can be modified to support more, Sterling and rx7Carl(not quite sure how to spell his name) are modifyng Nikki carbs right now, they cost about $300 plus shipping. I'm not sure how much power they can make, but I think they should be good for a little over 200hp, ask one of them to find out for sure.

Also, when I say it can make that much power, that means when everything else is upgraded, and the carb is the only restriction, then it can flow that much. You need a good exhaust system, upgraded ignition helps, and the carb has to be tuned right. You can't just toss on a better carb and expect it to put out that much power with everything else stock.

Yeah.. got everything put on my car a couple weeks ago. I just about pooped myself when I took her out after that. extremely impressive increase in power above 3k. Pulls hard until 7.5k and then I let up, but I know it could go further. And all this is before I get my exhaust completely re-done with a new straight-through muffler.
