my dad has a weird to him and me problem on his rigged 12A. it sometimes starts fine, as all rotaries...but then when it has a hards time starting, might be related to hot starting, but the engine does start if he pulls either wire coming from the coils off the dizzy. when the car starts and he plugs it in, the car dies.

i hope that made sense and really hope someone has an idea of what im talking about and is able to provide some insight.

thanks

Hm...that is strange...if you have some other coils laying around you might try those...or perhaps some different plug wires

If it just started doing this out of the blue...then it could be just about anything...but if he's done any work to it recently check for bad grounds...shorts...things like that...they can cause some really strange crap to happen

other than it being ghetto rigged/installed in a ford anglia, its a stock motor with a weber. ill tell him to try my old coils and wires and see if it works.

thanks

every time i get a strange problem i remember that video from fast fours and rotaries where the end is a groom who rides his turboed out r100 wagon to his wedding and after it wont start. and u see all the groomsmen piled up around it trying to start it. the groom jumps in the limo, shrugs and says..."its a rotary".

I bet the ignition is a standard '81-'85 setup. I don't believe in those anymore. You should upgrade to direct fire.
