Oil is used to cool the rotors.



Hmm, Maztech sounds Australian to me, so you'll need to get yourself a series one oil cooler.

of course the oil cooler is an issue, but if the coolant system was full (it gushed it all out afterward) it sounds like the it is the thermostat like everyone is saying. If you follow your upper radiator hose to where it connects to the neck on the motor, you can disconnect it and the thermostat is inside it.

I run my 12A without a thermostat and also the fans are always runing. and i got me a oil cooler from a turbo 2 on ebay, that should take care of your problem.

also i c in the picture that one of the hoses was cut and made into a plug( next to the radiator hose on the bootom, to the right by the radiator) use that and put a hose on it and run it to the water outlet on the rear housin of the engine , below next to the oil filter, (i'm pretty sure it most be cut there too) it will give you more coolant to the engine

see where the circle is that's put a hose ther and run it to the one by the oil filter it should look like that too

1 Drain the radiator

2 Remove thermostat, and plug the center hole (Broomstick works well)

3 Properly clean out the radiator with flush, and refill with fresh coolant and water wetter.

4 place top shroud/cover back on to "force" the air through the radiator, rather than around it.

5 Make sure your Efnas are turning on at the appropriate times - (approx 160-180)

6 get a front mount oil cooler installed when you can.

One of the things I see, it may not be the problem or cause a problem but I noticed that the air pump looks to be removed and the stock fan. I was under the impression when this was done you need to run 2 belts around the alt. and main pulley. Can anyone back me up on this one?

Directfreak hit it all the nails on the head...except for that I would go the extra mile and have the radiator unwelded and cleaned, you'll be amazed at the amount of junk that comes out after this is done. I keep insisting in this because of the radiator being 18yrs old, there are alot of mineral deposits that are very hard to get rid of with just a flush.



OH yeah that part about the piece of wooden broom to fill the whole after removing the thermostat really works but make sure that it is in there thight and that the piece is nice and solid. It does get very hot and wet in there so you wouldn't want any pieces of wood falling off and really causing an overheating probem.

I think most of us have already removed the air pump, so that isn't realy an issue for overheating, the air pump as just for emmision purposes.. It also goes for the stock clutch fan, this is removed to free up some RPM's and to reduce stress on the motor. Electric fans work just as well or even better than that big bulky plastic with a metal clutch in the middle fan. As for the double puley for the Alt. an main pulley....itisn't nessesary but it is used to reduce stress on the motor and Alt and gaining more RPM's.....2 belts are beter than one....I also like for a piece of mind cause even if one snaps yu most like likely will still have the other working
