the cap pops off the overflow tank and the coolant starts gushing out of the overflow tank straight up in the air like 4-5 ft after it is done spraying that **** everywhere (including in my carb) the hose is shooting out white smoke

overflow

What was done at Maztech? In most cases like my own...I have eliminated the thermostat completely. The next thing is to take it to a radiator shop and have the radiator cleaned out..not just with solution but have the radiator unwelded and each passage cleaned.

racerx - thanks alot i wish it worked too ... i dont know what kind of fans they are i will find out tomorrow ... w/e they are they are LOUD and they seem to do a good job, something else however is not right w/ my cooling system. There are a lot of unanswered questions i have about this car - i traded a turbo 2 that was mixing oil and water [and i was told would soon blow] for this supposed "94' carb. rebuilt engine - 85' gsl-se" - which i dont believe anymore after i found out what that weird thing on the center housing was [EGR Valve !?!?] i dont know the whole thing is a bit sketchy ... but i really didnt have the money for a rebuild on the turbo 2 and this seemed nice to me so i did it anyway.

the car had some serious electrical problems and no local shops wanted to work on it (the battery would be completely dead everytime i turned the car off) ... jeff from maztech fixed the electrical problem but now i have a new problem to deal w/ ... i can check for a thermostat but i have no idea where it would be lol - this probably wasnt the car for me but i want to learn as much as i can about it - i will see about having some one check the radiator i guess and i will go from there

oh one more thing, do you think not having an oil cooler might have something to do w/ this i was told it wouldnt matter but maztech told me it can cause problems

An Oil cooler is always a good thing! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

what you dont have an oil cooler? man thats a must on a rotary, what happened to the factory oil cooler?. that probably the problem there. and about the termostat, it doesnt matter is factory or not. i have an aftermarket one in my car and it runs 1/3 all the time. you should better invest on a oil cooler soon

T-Deuce 02-02-2004 11:42 PM

hmm thanks alot ... i thought that sounded funny ... especially on engines that are notorious for blowing up

https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/ohmy.png bullshit, who told you that?! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

If you treat them right they will run right. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

You do need an oil cooler though, not because rotary engines blow up https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/blink.png , but due to the way they use the oil for lubrication and cooling, means its a must have to take the heat out of it.

PS Welcome to nopistons too. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif
